Sperm freezing

Sperm freezing

Sperm freezing is a process that consists of adding cryoprotective agents to the semen sample to prevent damage to the inside of the spermatozoa, with the aim of preserving them in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -196ºC. Sperm freezing makes it possible to preserve a man’s fertility and to have healthy and fertile sperm that can be used in assisted reproduction techniques.

Once the semen sample has been frozen, it can be stored for as long as necessary without its quality being affected. Ovobank follows a rigorous process to ensure that high-quality frozen semen straws are sent to patients who require donor sperm for their assisted reproduction treatment.
