According to a statement issued by the merchandising company in Spain, KITAZATO has obtained temporary authorization from the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Sanitary Products (AEMPS), valid until November 12, for the import, merchandising and use of vitrification media (VT801) And (VT802). Even without CE marking, this authorization again allows the use of these medias with the same conditions and characteristics as those known up to day.
Ovobank wishes to inform that since last week our eggs will be vitrified again, respecting Kitazato’s media protocol, unless a collaborating center communicates a preference for another protocol.
In July last year, once Kitazato’s vitrification and thawing media (VT801 / VT802) stocks were produced in Spain before 12/07/2017 and under the CE mark, Ovobank launched a study based on the “Universal Warming Protocol “by thawing with different commercial thawing kits with CE mark. The table with the updated results of the thawing of vitrified MII eggs originally respecting the Kitazato protocol and later thawing with the four commercially available medias with CE marking, gives the following data:
VITIRIFICATION | THAWING | Nº EGGS | Nº SURVIVED EGGS | % SURVIVAL* | EGGS DEGENERATED |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
KITAZATO | KITAZATO | 63 | 58 | 92% | 5 |
KITAZATO | IRVINE | 44 | 39 | 89% | 5 |
KITAZATO | SAGE | 43 | 41 | 95 % | 2 |
KITAZATO | OMNI (VITROLIFE) | 93 | 92 | 99% | 1 |
Ovobank makes the communication of these new data to all there collaborating centers with the aim of sharing as much information as possible in order to minimize possible problems in the treatments and to reduce, as far as possible, the learning curve of the staff of the collaborating centers regarding the use of these alternative protocols.
As usual, Ovobank will keep their collaborating centers informed through periodic communication of there updated data, the product of new trials. Also, our staff is available for any clarification or need for help.
* The quality and survival of thawed eggs has been assessed morphologically.
