At Ovobank, the first Egg Bank in Europe, we have compiled some of the most frequently asked questions from collaborating centres and hospitals.
Ovobank helps clinics and patients all over the world to optimise ovodonation treatments, thanks to the dispatch of its batches of vitrified oocytes.
FAQS OVOBANK
How can you ensure the quality of the eggs?
At Ovobank we only select MII oocytes. These are oocytes that have reached nuclear maturity and are therefore suitable for fertilisation.
What advantages do vitrified oocytes have over fresh oocytes?
Ovobank’s vitrified eggs have many advantages such as, for example, the large stock of vitrified batches and, therefore, the reduction of waiting times, 100% safe transport thanks to the systems and technologies implemented by Ovobank (Ovotracker, Ovolabel, Ovoscan), the strict pre-selection of donors, the quality of the oocytes, their maintenance by specialised professionals in cryopreservation, among others.
How do you select the donors?
The selection of donors is one of Ovobank’s main priorities. Among the various tests that are carried out on the candidates, we can highlight the battery of analyses, psychological evaluations, genetic studies… We carry out a pre-selection through a psychological test that includes all the possible information about her family (any illness or genetic problem) and then we proceed to carry out all the necessary analyses and tests to determine whether the donor is suitable. At Ovobank, only 34% of donor candidates are accepted.
What is the procedure for our centre to request batches of oocytes from Ovobank?
The first step is to send the necessary documents to sign the collaboration agreement. Once the agreement is signed, Ovobank will provide the access data to the users chosen by the centre to access the Ovotracker system. From Ovobank, we will offer a videochat training with the users to show them how to introduce the applications, how organise the shipments, generate results reports, etc. Do you want to be a collaborating centre? To request more information, go to info@ovobank.com and depending on your language, a coordinator will contact you as soon as possible.
In addition, the collaborating centres will be able to continue training with Ovobank thanks to its Ovolearning platform, where they offer courses throughout the year on assisted reproduction techniques.
What is Ovomatch?
Ovomatch is an application that allows patients to carry out donor matching using an app based on facial recognition technology created by our R&D&I team. The process consists of scanning multiple facial points of the patient’s face through a selfie and comparing it, thanks to a mathematical algorithm of facial recognition, with our extensive database to find donors compatible with the patient.
