Ovobank’s innovation in sending our egg

Ovobank’s innovation in sending our egg

OVOBANK is an egg bank, brought to you by an international team of doctors, embryologists, cryobiologists and specialists with over 20 years’ experience in fertility treatments. Our mission is to make it easierquicker and more affordable for fertility clinics and their patients to access frozen donor eggs. In this article, we’ll explain in more detail how the egg batches are sent to our collaborating clinics.

We have hundreds of batches of high-quality donor eggs available in our egg bank, from an extensive donor pool of fully-screened, healthy young women of diverse ethnicities and physical characteristics – with no waiting list.

Our facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and laboratories which meet the highest quality standards. We only ship vitrified eggs in Metaphase II, after a very thorough screening procedure to ensure optimal morphological quality. This is done in dry shipper containers, which are approved for land, air or sea transport of biological samples. To ensure maximum safety and peace of mind, our R&D&I team have developed a unique system that allows clinics to monitor shipment location and conditions such as temperature, pressure and humidity throughout the shipping process in Europe.

MAXIMUM SECURITY AND TRACEABILITY IN YOUR ORDERS

At OVOBANK, we use our own custom-designed shipment boxes to safely contain and protect the dry shipper containers that hold the frozen donor eggs. Our egg batches are shipped in special cryo-containers of absorbed liquid nitrogen for the transportation of cells and tissues. In turn, the cryo-containers are protected by reinforced aluminum boxes to avoid any damage during the shipping process. The eggs are classified through a system of straws and goblets that allow the identification and transfer of batches from the shipping tank without breaking the cold chain.

TOOLS TO REDUCE ERRORS AND MAXIMIZE EFFICIENCY

OVOTRACKER – SECURITY AND CONTROL

Ovotracker is a pioneering telematic system created by our R&D&I department to track each of the stages of the process through which an egg is sent until it arrives at the destination clinic. For the first time, full traceability is applied in the health sector, which is a total innovation in this field.

Thanks to this application, it’s possible to monitor parameters such as the temperature, pressure and humidity of the eggs during transport. In addition, the collaborating center will have access to Ovotracker to place their orderscheck the shipping status, and automatically download the relevant reports, thereby streamlining the whole process and reducing human error to a minimum.

OVOSCAN & OVOLABEL

Ovoscan & Ovolabel: two tools that automate the SEC code reading process (the sequence of numbers that contains all the information about human tissue lots, such as donor and center of origin). This has revolutionized the work protocols applied in laboratories all over the world, and enabled us to offer the maximum safety guarantees to receiving patients. These systems have been designed by Ovobank’s R&D&I department as a complement to the Ovotracker platform.

Ovolabel: an automized cryotop labelling and printing system.

Ovoscan: with this scanning app, you can verify shipment contents quickly and safely.

The outstanding work carried out by the Ovobank team has been acknowledged in recent years with numerous awards for business innovation and medical excellence, thanks to our high success rates and the improvements implemented in our laboratories. See why over 480 collaborating centers have already placed their trust in OVOBANK.
